Why are contacts not part of the data framework?

Objects

• Objects are separate containers of data within the Canopy database. 
• The Canopy objects are: 
  • Suppliers 
  • Supplier Contacts 
  • Internal Users

Objects help to keep the database organised, and allow us to associate objects to multiple others.

E.g:

• A supplier contact who works for more than one supplier.
• An internal user who is the Relationship Owner for more than one supplier. 

Properties

• Properties are fields of data we collect on our objects. 

E.g: 

• The Company Registration Number of a supplier.
• The Job Title of a supplier contact .

Managing properties 

The properties of suppliers are managed in the Data Framework.

The properties of supplier contacts may not be altered in Canopy Collect. 

The properties of internal users may not be altered in Canopy Collect.
