Overview
The Data Framework in Canopy is where you map and configure data points for supplier profiles, including setting permissions for different user types.
Properly managing these permissions ensures that suppliers see only the intended data points in their forms, with appropriate edit or view access.
This article explains how to manage the Data Framework and configure data point permissions.
Steps to Manage the Data Framework
1. Access the Data Framework:
-
-
Using the side navigation bar, open the Settings page and navigate to the Data Framework section.
-
2. View and Edit Data Points:
-
-
In the Data Framework, locate the table of data points mapped to supplier profiles.
- Click on the Permissions tab to clearly see all permissions for your data points
-
3. Configure Data Point Permissions:
-
- Click on the data point you wish to edit permissions for and navigate to the Permissions section
- For each data point, set permissions for the following user types using dropdown menus:
-
Editor (Internal): Options include Editable, View Only, or No Access.
-
Viewer (Internal): Options include View Only or No Access.
-
Supplier (External): Options include Editable, View Only, or No Access.
-
-
Default Permissions for newly created data points are:
-
Editor: Editable
-
Viewer: View Only
-
Supplier: No Access
-
4. Supplier Form Permission Impacts:
-
-
Editable (Supplier): Data points appear as editable fields in the supplier form.
-
View Only (Supplier): Data points are visible but non-editable in the supplier form.
-
No Access (Supplier): Data points are completely hidden from the supplier form.
-
5. Verify Permissions Before Inviting Suppliers:
-
-
Review all data point permissions in the Permissions tab to ensure they align with your onboarding goals.
-
Confirm that:
-
Editable data points are correctly set for supplier input.
-
View-only data points are visible but protected.
-
Hidden data points are excluded from the supplier form.
-
-
6. Save Changes:
-
-
Save any changes to data point permissions to update the supplier profile configuration.
-
Changes take effect immediately for all supplier forms sent via invitations, including for previously invited suppliers.
-
Additional Notes
-
Importance of Verification: Always check permissions before sending supplier invites to avoid exposing sensitive data or restricting necessary fields. Incorrect permissions can disrupt supplier onboarding.
- Permission Defaults: New data points default to No Access for suppliers, ensuring data security until explicitly configured.
-
Related Features: Permissions set in the Data Framework affect the Invite Process and supplier profile views.
